INTRODUCTION
Exotic animals are becoming increasingly popular, leading to a greater demand for veterinary services that cater to their unique needs. Veterinarians must be equipped with specialized knowledge and skills to handle emergencies involving these animals, which often present distinct challenges compared to more common domestic animals. This intensive course is designed to provide veterinarians with comprehensive training in the management of exotic animal emergencies, ensuring they are prepared to deliver high-quality care in critical situations.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
• To enhance the knowledge and skills of veterinarians in hand ling emergencies involving exotic animals.
• To ensure the provision of high-quality, timely care for exotic animals in critical situations.
• To toster a deeper understanding of the unique physiological and anatomical characteristics of various exotic species.
• To promote best practices and standardized protocols in the treatment of exotic anima! emergencies.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• To identify and categorize common emergencies encountered in exotic animal practice.
• To develop proficiency in diagnostic techniques specific to exotic animals .
• To master emergency surgical procedures for exotic species.
• To implement effective triage and stabilization methods for critically iii or injured exotic animals.
• To recognize signs of pain and distress specific to various exotic animals and provide appropriate pain management.
