Saturday
➔ Theoretical part:
• Ophthalmological examination of lagomorphs and rodents - discussion of the individual stages of the examination
• The most common eye diseases in lagomorphs and rodents – diagnosis and treatment:
1. Conjunctivitis in Guinea Pigs – When Do Our Treatment Regimens Not Work?
2. Corneal ulcers in lagomorphs and rodents – from diagnosis to treatment, treatment regimens
3. Diagnosis and treatment principles of meibomian gland inflammation in hamsters
4. Porphyria in the rat – differential diagnosis
5. Ophthalmological symptoms in the course of Encephalitozoon cuniculi infection – diagnosis and treatment
6. Glaucoma in lagomorphs and rodents
7. Ophthalmological problems secondary to dental disease in lagomorphs and rodents
➔ Practical part:
• Learning how to use ophthalmic equipment

➔ Practical part:
• Ophthalmological examination of scheduled patients in groups using specialized equipment
➔ Theoretical part:
• Discussion of selected surgical procedures:
1. Surgical treatment of difficult-to-heal recurrent anterior epithelial defect in lagomorphs
2. Surgical treatment of eyelid entropion
3. Third eyelid gland reposition procedure in lagomorphs
4. Enucleations in lagomorphs and rodents
➔ Practical part:
• The participant performs the above surgical procedures on cadavers independently
Other information for workshop participants
✓ The workshops are intended for veterinarians and 5th and 6th year veterinary students.
✓ Designed for participants who have not had any previous contact with ophthalmology, as well as for doctors who perform ophthalmological examinations of dogs and cats on a daily basis and want to expand their knowledge of ophthalmology of lagomorphs and rodents.
✓ If you have never had any contact with surgery before, especially ophthalmological surgery – there is no reason to worry, it is not required to join our workshops.
✓ The ophthalmological examination during the practical part will take place on randomly selected patients and will be carried out in groups using specialist ophthalmological equipment supplied by Eickemeyer.
✓ During practical classes on ophthalmic surgery, each participant will have the opportunity to work independently on unfixed material.
✓ The cost of participation includes: participation in the theoretical and practical training, unlimited access to hot and cold beverages during the workshops, refreshments during coffee breaks, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, evening refreshments on Saturday, training materials in paper form.
✓ ADDITIONALLY: participants will be able to win an individual ophthalmology internship with Dr. Oliwia Lis.
✓ Each participant will receive a training completion certificate and educational points.
✓ We reserve the right to cancel the workshop if a minimum of 10 participants is not met.
