WEBINAR (10/13)

Lecturer: DVM Martyna Woszczyło, PhD
Duration: 60 minutes

We invite you to participate in a new, comprehensive training series dedicated to clinical behavioral medicine. The program has been created for veterinarians who want to better understand the relationship between a patient's behavior and their health status.

This is a practical training series that will help answer one of the key questions in daily clinical practice: is the observed problem behavioral, or does its source lie in a somatic disease?

During the webinar, we will focus on problems with urination and defecation in dogs and cats and their possible connection to somatic diseases, pain, stress, emotional disorders, and environmental difficulties.

An important element will be distinguishing situations where the problem is primarily behavioral from those where the animal's behavior is a reaction to pain, discomfort, mobility limitations, chronic illness, or cognitive decline. We will also address the most common interpretative errors, including attributing "malice" or "lack of upbringing" to the animal.

During the webinar, we will discuss:

– Possible medical and behavioral causes of inappropriate urination and defecation

– The impact of pain, diarrhea, and discomfort on animal behavior

– The importance of environment, resource availability, routine, and a sense of security

– Situations where a problem interpreted as behavioral should prompt further somatic diagnostics

Additional information about the webinar

The webinar is intended exclusively for veterinarians.

In all webinars, the common thread is a clinical perspective on the patient: when a change in behavior should prompt further somatic diagnostics, how not to miss pain or chronic discomfort, and how to combine medical and behavioral approaches.

The training will provide veterinarians with practical knowledge necessary to accurately differentiate somatic problems from primary behavioral ones, directing diagnostics immediately to the correct path.

This is the tenth webinar in the "Behavioral Medicine in a Nutshell" series.
