WEBINAR (9/13)

Presenter: DVM, PhD Martyna Woszczyło
Duration: 60 minutes

We invite you to participate in a new, comprehensive training series dedicated to clinical behavioral medicine. The program has been created for veterinarians who want to better understand the relationship between a patient's behavior and their health status.

This is a practical series of training sessions that will help answer one of the key questions in daily clinical practice: is the observed problem behavioral, or does its source lie in a somatic illness?

During the webinar, we will focus on how hormonal disorders can affect the behavior of dogs and cats. Endocrine diseases can alter activity levels, arousal, sleep, appetite, social responses, frustration tolerance, irritability, anxiety, and the animal's ability to learn and cope with stress.

We will discuss, among other things, the impact of thyroid diseases, adrenal gland disorders, metabolic disorders, and sex hormones on an animal's functioning. An important element will be recognizing situations where a change in behavior may be one of the first or most noticeable symptoms of an endocrine disease.

We will also address the differentiation between primary behavioral problems and problems secondary to hormonal disorders.

During the webinar, we will discuss:

– The impact of hormonal disorders on emotions, arousal, activity, sleep, and appetite

– Changes such as irritability, anxiety, apathy, excessive arousal, frustration intolerance, and altered social responses

– Possible behavioral symptoms of thyroid diseases, adrenal gland disorders, and metabolic disorders

– The influence of sex hormones on an animal's behavior and emotional functioning

– Situations where a behavioral problem may be secondary to an endocrine disease

– The importance of collaboration between a veterinarian and a behaviorist in managing a patient with a chronic illness

Additional webinar information

This webinar is intended exclusively for veterinarians.

A common thread throughout all webinars is a clinical perspective on the patient: when a change in behavior should prompt further somatic diagnostics, how not to overlook pain or chronic discomfort, and how to combine medical and behavioral approaches.

This training will provide veterinarians with practical knowledge essential for accurately differentiating somatic problems from primary behavioral ones, directing diagnostics immediately to the correct path.

This is the ninth webinar in the "Behavioral Medicine in a Nutshell" series.
