WEBINAR (5/13)

Presenter: Dr. Martyna Woszczyło (DVM, PhD)
Duration: 65 minutes

We invite you to participate in a new, comprehensive training series dedicated to clinical behavioral medicine. The program has been created for veterinarians who want to better understand the relationship between a patient's behavior and their health status.

This is a practical training series that will help answer one of the key questions in daily clinical practice: is the observed problem behavioral in nature, or does its source lie in a somatic illness?

During the webinar on cats, we will focus on a particular interpretative difficulty: feline patients often mask discomfort, and dermatological and behavioral symptoms can be subtle, non-specific, or misleading.

We will discuss, among other things, over-grooming, alopecia, self-mutilation, avoidance of contact, irritability, changes in social relationships, litter box issues, decreased activity, and behaviors resembling compulsive disorders. An important topic will also be the impact of chronic itching, environmental stress, and limited control over the environment on a cat's well-being.

During the webinar, we will discuss:

– The specifics of a cat as a dermatological patient;

– Subtle behavioral changes that may accompany skin diseases

– Over-grooming and FHS

– Irritability, avoidance of contact, changes in social relationships, and decreased activity

– Differentiating between itching, pain, environmental stress, and emotional disorders

– The impact of chronic dermatological discomfort on a cat's well-being
