WEBINAR (11/13)

Lecturer: Dr. Vet. Sci. Martyna Woszczyło
Duration: 60 minutes

We invite you to participate in a new, comprehensive training cycle dedicated to clinical behavioral medicine. The program was created for veterinarians who want to better understand the relationship between a patient's behavior and their health condition.

This is a practical series of trainings that will help answer one of the key questions in daily clinical practice: is the observed problem behavioral in nature, or does its source lie in a somatic illness?

During the webinar, we will focus on the impact of nervous system diseases on dog behavior.

We will discuss, among other things, sudden changes in behavior, irritability, aggressive reactions, anxiety, disorientation, sleep disturbances, unusual episodes of excitement, compulsive or repetitive behaviors, avoidance of touch, decreased activity, and learning problems. We will pay particular attention to symptoms that may look like a behavioral problem but may actually have a neurological or pain-related background.

An important element will be recognizing red flags: situations where a dog's behavior changes suddenly, unusually, inappropriately to the context, or does not respond to properly conducted behavioral management.

During the webinar, we will talk about:

– The impact of nervous system diseases and neuropathic pain on dog behavior

– Changes such as irritability, anxiety, aggression, disorientation, sleep disturbances, and avoidance of contact

– The possible link between spinal diseases, sensory disturbances, and pain with defensive reactions

– Seizures, seizure-like episodes, and unusual behavioral episodes

– Situations where a behavioral problem should prompt neurological diagnostics

Additional information about the webinar

The webinar is intended exclusively for veterinarians.

In all webinars, the common thread is a clinical view of the patient: when a change in behavior should prompt further somatic diagnostics, how not to miss pain or chronic discomfort, and how to combine medical and behavioral management.

The training will provide veterinarians with practical knowledge necessary for accurate differentiation of somatic problems from primary behavioral ones, directing diagnostics immediately to the right track.

This is the eleventh webinar in the "Behavioral Medicine in a Nutshell" series.

As part of the admission fee:
